The OM Process

  • A 1 hour consultation.

It all begins with learning about each other.

Everyone has a unique way of managing their space how they like to clean and organize, how they manage daily tasks, and overall live in their environment.

My focus during this time is to learn what your goals & needs are, basically what I like to call - organizing on paper. We will do a walk through or virtual tour together and look at the areas you want to focus and talk about any pain points or what is working. From there I can discuss how to incorporate organizational solutions into your lifestyle.

The more information I have the easier it is for me to work out an estimate of time & potential plans that will help make our time together productive.

  • What I call the “groundwork” - this can include decluttering, categorizing, donating & reselling to a light cleaning. If this part of the process is needed it will help plan out how to create an environment ready for planning the room and organizing step.

Editing helps visualize how much or little we need to take into account when we prepare a space ready for organizing.

Most project involve some homework or simple tasks for my clients such as going through a group of mugs or a pile clothes that need to be reviewed and edited down into keep, donate or sell. This is the being practice to igniting your OM.

  • Prepping the “stage”.

During this time we will decide if any storage bins/materials are needed, discuss where things will be organized whilst being mindful to your needs and making it maintainable for your lifestyle.

This step would also include any room redesign, adding new fixtures to moving big furniture items in or out that was identified and committed before starting the project.

  • The fun part for my own personal OM.

Time to start putting your room, house or space back together. I begin doing what I do best…organizing, sorting, and labelling your items, all based of our consultation, edit and prep time. I can work alone or you’re welcome to participate… if your goal is to create new organizing habits or would like to learn ways to manage and maintain your space this can be a great time to start your new mindset. Some prefer I completed their space for them which is totally find too, it all depends on your needs!

  • My most important step of the project. Making sure your new organized space works for you is key to my success as a Professional Organizer.

Sometimes we can come up with what we think is the best plan but once it’s complete there could be some minor tweaks.

After everything is complete I give my clients a couple of days to test out the new organized space & gather any feedback.

Asking…Does the new space feel easy to keep organized? Does something not make sense?

If something is not right, that’s not a problem, it’s part of the process. Depending on the size of the project, editing time is accounted for in my initial estimate. Together we can work the kinks and do a final round of adjustments.
